The Art
Hand-printed linocut using a shifting plate method across multiple colour layers
Streetscapes of Sydney.
The Artist
Art has shaped my life from the beginning—both of my parents are artists. Printmaking became a natural extension of that foundation. Working primarily in linocut, I use the medium to construct architectural images that sit between precision and disruption.
My work focuses on buildings that have stood the test of time—terraces, shopfronts, corner pubs, and quiet streets embedded in collective memory. These structures are rendered with architectural accuracy, but they are not static. Each work operates as an impression of place, translating experience into colour, rhythm, and tension.
I work from a single carved matrix, printed through multiple colour passes using a shifting plate method. Rather than seeking perfect registration, I deliberately move the block between impressions to introduce slivers of light, colour echoes, and a vibrating edge that causes the image to flicker. What began as a printing error has developed into a controlled and repeatable process.
This approach allows architectural forms to feel animated rather than fixed. Buildings appear to pulse and shift, reflecting how places are experienced over time—layered, unstable, and shaped by memory. Misregistration becomes both a technical process and a conceptual device.
I exhibited at TAP Gallery, Surry Hills (2025), and continue to produce limited-edition streetscape linoprints.
