FAQs

What is Linocut?

Linocut is a series of artistic prints created using linoleum blocks. The design is carved into the linoleum by hand, and hand printed using block ink. The result is called a linoprint - although it is an original and unique artwork rather than a copy. I use a shifting plate technique which results in each print being unique.

Editions are limited in number as the linoleum deteriorates with each print.

Can I buy your art online?

Yes. My art is available for purchase via this website. I am also a listed artist on Blue Thumb. You are welcome to contact me directly via email to request images of all available prints within each series. Most prints are a similar size and display in a series of two or three - grouped by colour or location. Please contact me to discuss preferences - I am happy to provide a catalogue by colour including some unlisted pieces.

Commissions are available by agreement. Total cost within the range of $1,000 for two original prints - standard size (21cm x 29cm - within A3 frame). Multiple prints (up to 15 total) are available at additional cost of $100 each.

Yes, each print is carefully hand-carved into linoleum and hand printed. Most prints have three layers of colour using the same linocut. A Certificate of Authenticity is provided with each piece - it is on the back of the print and signed by the Artist.

Are the prints hand-made?
What do the numbers mean?

Each print is identified with a name and number. For example, “Newtown Intersection 2/15” is the second print using the linocut titled “Newtown Intersection”, a linocut that produced a total of 15 prints. Each linocut has a limited lifespan - generally 15 -as the linoleum deteriorates after use. I catalogue my art based on location and colour.
