The Dr Martens Store on King Street is in its natural habitat. Countless generations have laced up, stepped out, stood firm, and walked their talk here — from protests to pub nights, quiet cemetery walks to crowded footpaths.
The people before me may be countless, but the building looming above is keeping score. The Shenkin Cafe is marked 1902. That building has seen over 45,000 sunsets.
